KOMO stands for the OTH AW Competence Centre Bavaria - Central and Eastern Europe.

CEE is the abbreviation for the region of Central and Eastern Europe.

The Competence Centre Bavaria - Central and Eastern Europe (KOMO) at OTH Amberg-Weiden promotes cooperation and exchange with partners from Central and Eastern European countries (CEE). It supports university co-operation, research projects and student exchanges. In this way, it contributes to the internationalisation of the university and the region. A particular focus is on the neighbouring country of the Czech Republic. The geographical proximity as well as the long-standing economic and cultural relations between the two regions offer ideal conditions for intensive cooperation.

KOMO's activities are aimed at the entire university family - students, staff from all faculties and departments as well as cooperation partners.

Through events and counselling services, KOMO provides information about the opportunities available in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. With its broad network and the possibility of financial funding, it supports the diverse activities of the university and its members. These include excursions and longer stays abroad by students as well as projects and research programmes with CEE partners.

The Competence Centre Bavaria - Central and Eastern Europe was founded at the end of 2018 with funding from the Free State of Bavaria.
