Offers for female pupils and schools
The OTH Amberg-Weiden offers various programs for female pupils and schools. The purpose of the programs is to introduce female pupils to the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology - in brief MINT - and possible courses of study. The aim is to give them valuable insights and encourage them to take up studies in the MINT field after successfully completing their schooling.
In addition to its own programs, the OTH Amberg-Weiden also participates in other projects that are intended to promote the interest of female pupils. These are, for example, Girls'Day and the educational projects of the Bildungswerk der Bayerischen Wirtschaft e.V. (Bavarian Business Education Association).
One very successful project that has already been completed is MINT-Mädchen. It was directed at female pupils with potential in MINT subjects from grades 10 to 12 of the high school or FOS/BOS. During the period of the project from 2017 to 2020, it was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of the initiative "Aufstieg durch Bildung" (Advancement through Education). Through the project, female pupils were encouraged in their talents, interests were strengthened and their knowledge was expanded. Project content included research workshops on current MINT topics, excursions, insights into regional companies and businesses, and empowerment workshops. More information and impressions from former participants can be found here.
