As a graduate of the “Digital Design” degree course, you will have the expertise and key skills required for the conception, design and interdisciplinary implementation of effective, digital, media products and attractive user experiences. On the one hand, the foundation modules provided for this purpose impart an understanding and application competence of relevant theories, methods and processes on a conceptual, creative level. On the other hand, a basic technological understanding is laid, which forms the basis for the subsequent implementation. The strongly application and project-oriented in-depth phase aims to develop students' own design skills: This includes an emancipated approach to the continuously evolving spectrum of digital media and relevant technologies in general, as well as individual opportunities to specialize in sub-areas or future professional fields.
In addition, you will be specifically prepared for the creative use of artificial intelligence in order to shape generative design processes and integrate machine systems into co-creative workflows. These skills will enable you to develop innovative tools that not only generate content automatically, but also promote new forms of human-machine interaction.
The degree program places particular emphasis on promoting the creative, artistic-design, conceptual and methodological skills required to develop digital, media products/strategies and attractive user experiences. Particular attention is paid to teaching application-oriented skills, scientifically sound theories, solution-oriented, methodical skills and basic technological knowledge in line with requirements. Graduates are thus enabled to act as relevant players in various areas of the media and communication landscape and/or product/application development. The general subjects of “Conception and Design” form the foundation of the course. These are supplemented by the two profiling areas “Content Creation”, with a focus e.g. on communication, moving images or print, as well as the topic “UX/UI/Interaction”, with a focus e.g. on web/app/games, user interface or product development.
The planned course can also make a significant contribution to your personal development by enabling you to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions. By working intensively on the design of communication strategies and user experiences, you will learn to use your empathy skills and understand the needs and perspectives of different user groups. This not only develops your social skills, but also your ability to reflect critically and collaborate in interdisciplinary teams.
Furthermore, the course enables you to develop your design skills and to find and implement innovative solutions. This promotes your self-efficacy and strengthens your self-confidence and your ability to successfully contribute to technically oriented teams on the basis of the basic technological understanding you have acquired.
