Accreditation
System accreditation
OTH Amberg-Weiden has been system-accredited by the Accreditation Council since 2017 in accordance with the legally prescribed procedures. This means that the university itself is responsible for ensuring that its degree programmes meet the recognised quality standards and that its courses are developed further. As a result of the system accreditation, the university may award its study programmes the seal of the Accreditation Council by itself.
During the process of system accreditation, the university's entire quality management system is regularly reviewed by independent external experts. OTH Amberg-Weiden was last successfully system-reaccredited in 2023. The accreditation period is valid until September 30, 2031.
Internal Accreditation
With internal accreditation (internal process for awarding the seal of the Accreditation Council for study programmes), OTH Amberg-Weiden ensures that its study programmes comply with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) and the regulation governing study accreditation in accordance with the State Treaty on the Accreditation of Studies (Bavarian Study Accreditation Regulation - BayStudAkkV). The principles of quality assurance in studies and teaching at OTH Amberg-Weiden define the tasks, roles and procedures of the internal accreditation process. They also describe the procedures and instruments of quality assurance.
Internal accreditation is based on the results of the internal and external evaluations determined in the quality assurance procedure. While compliance with the subject-related content criteria (Sections 11 to 20 BayStudAkkV) is checked in particular by external experts, the Quality Management and Accreditation Unit primarily checks the formal criteria (Sections 3 to 10 BayStudAkkV). It prepares the documents for the accreditation decision and draws up an accreditation report including a proposal for the Senate's resolution. The Senate is the internal accreditation commission of OTH Amberg-Weiden and decides on the award or withdrawal of the accreditation seal.
Of course, all bachelor's and master's degree programmes at OTH Amberg-Weiden are accredited. All accreditation results - in particular accreditation certificates and quality reports - are available via the central database of the Accreditation Council ("ELIAS").
