  • 24h-library in Weiden: Please do not push the revolving door!

    Library

    Concerns/Category: 

    Unfortunately, the revolving door of the 24-hour library has often been used incorrectly recently, preventing students from entering the library.

    We therefore expressly ask you to follow our rules:

    Use your own student ID card to activate the revolving door!

    Go through the revolving door alone and individually!
    Take your time! The door takes a few seconds to move.

    Do not push the revolving door any further by force!!! It rotates completely automatically.

    We can only continue to offer the 24-hour library if all students follow these rules.

    If the revolving door is entered by several people at the same time or if people without access force their way in, the technology will break down.
    If this happens again in the near future, we will have to close the 24-hour library permanently.

    Please follow the rules so that the 24h library can be used by everyone.


    How do you recognize that you have access to the revolving door? The card reader lights up blue at the edge.
    If you do not have access, the card reader lights up red.

    All students can gain access by attending a one-time training course at the library. The revolving door is also explained in this course.
    We will continue to offer appointments for this, so please contact us at the counter or by email at bibwen@oth-aw.de if you need it!

  • O/HUB: Start-ups/self-employment of students

    This year, OTH Amberg-Weiden is taking part in the Stifterverband's start-up radar.

    This measures and compares the profile of German universities in start-up support (https://www.stifterverband.org/gruendungsradar). This time retrospectively for the year 2023.

    One of the most important key figures are new businesses founded by students at OTH Amberg-Weiden, whether through start-ups or self-employment.

    I would have the following request for you:

    If you have founded or become self-employed in 2023, please let the start-up support team at gruendung@oth-aw.de know briefly until Thursday, 18.07.2024.

    We can then count your spin-off for OTH Amberg-Weiden in the start-up radar.

    Just a small tip: We will of course also be happy to support existing company spin-offs from the university.     Dear Students,

    Please note that from 01.10.2024 a new verification via Shibboleth is necessary to purchase a discounted Deutschlandticket in the Netinera app.

    The Student Union of the OTH Amberg-Weiden has decided not to extend the semester ticket any further. Therefore, the price for a discounted Deutschlandticket will be 29.00 euros per month from the winter semester 2024/2025. Please note that no refunds will be made if you have forgotten the Shibboleth verification!

    Dear students,

    We would like to inform you that some functions in the Moodle App (provider: Moodle Pty Ltd) are not supported. This concerns, among other things, plug-ins for exams, evaluation etc. We therefore ask you to stop using the Moodle app in the future and to access Moodle via the OTH app. You can access your OTH Moodle account and many other helpful functions directly via the menu in the app. Please note this in future and install the OTH app on your smartphone or tablet. Alternatively, you can access the services of OTH Amberg-Weiden at any time via our website. PCs are also available in the IT rooms if you do not have your own laptop.

    Regulations for exams for this Summer semester 2024

    Dear students,

    we would like to inform you about the current regulations for exam registration for this summer semester 2024.

    The following should therefore be noted:

    • In order to sit an exam you must register for it during the registration period.
    • After this period, it is no longer possible to register or deregister via the online portal.
    • You must also register for repeat examinations, as well as for coursework, assessments, projects, etc. (see study and examination regulations in the PRIMUSS portal > homepage below). (see study and examination regulations in the PRIMUSS portal > homepage at the bottom).
    • Every exam graded with a "5" (failed) counts.
    • Deadlines count. If a deadline for taking an examination is not met, the exam will be graded with a "5" (failed).
    • Registration for an examination is binding. Failure to appear will therefore result in a "5" (failed).
    • If you are unable to attend an examination, you must submit a medical certificate (please use the sick leave/inability to take exams form, which you will find on your online portal).
    • If you repeatedly fail to attend an examination, you no longer need to submit a special medical certificate. A normal doctor´s certificate is sufficient (please use the same sick leave/inability to take exams form as mentioned above, which you will find on your online portal).
    • If you do not register for an exam you will not receive a grade for it and must sit the exam again.

    Please read these regulations carefully and adhere to them.

  • Leben in der Region Amberg-Weiden – Wie gefällt es Ihnen hier?

    Liebe Studierende,

    Sie haben sich für die OTH Amberg-Weiden entschieden und damit für ein Studium in einer ländlichen Region. Wie gefällt es Ihnen, hier zu leben? Wo sehen Sie Verbesserungsbedarf? Unter welchen Bedingungen möchten Sie nach Abschluss Ihres Studiums in der Region bleiben? Und wo möchten Sie sich vielleicht selbst einbringen, um die Region (noch) zukunftsfester zu machen?

    Diese Fragen untersucht die Technische Hochschule Nürnberg, Kompetenzzentrum KoSIMA mit einer Befragung von Studierenden in ländlichen Regionen. Wir unterstützen diese Befragung und laden Sie herzlich ein, daran teilzunehmen.

    Machen Sie mit und nutzen Sie die Chance, Ihre Perspektiven einzubringen!

    Die Teilnahme dauert ca. 15 Minuten und ist selbstverständlich freiwillig.
    Sie können vom 27.05. bis zum 16.06.  an der Befragung teilnehmen.

    Die Ergebnisse werden im Herbst 2024 im Rahmen einer Veranstaltung vorgestellt und mit interessierten Studierenden diskutiert.

    Es gibt auch etwas zu gewinnen: Unter den Teilnehmern der Befragung werden 20 Stadtgeld-Gutscheine (wahlweise Amberg oder Weiden) im Wert von jeweils 10 € verlost!

  • Statement on the future of the semester ticket

    Dear students,

    You may have already heard that the semester ticket at OTH Amberg-Weiden will expire at the end of the 2024 summer semester and will not be continued.

    As your student representatives, we campaigned last year for the introduction of an affordable and lucrative semester ticket at OTH Amberg-Weiden. We were fully aware that this was a controversial and polarising topic. Nevertheless, we believe that we have achieved the goals we set ourselves with the semester ticket.

    Why is the ticket not being continued now?

    In the long term, the ticket should be expanded to offer you more attractive routes. This year, we started negotiations with the transport companies to improve the service for you at a comparable price level. Unfortunately, we had to realise that some transport companies showed little interest in the negotiations.

    The ticket should be continued in its current form. The price of the ticket was to be increased by almost 7% while the services remained the same. On the one hand, this was not satisfactory for us and on the other hand, we could not justify this to you with a clear conscience. After initial talks with no progress, we decided not to continue the negotiations and decided against continuing the ticket beyond the current summer semester.

    If you have any questions about this, you can contact your representatives in the student council at any time.

    Wer steht überhaupt zur Wahl? Schau dir jetzt die Listen und die Steckbriefe an!

    Wie jeden Sommer steht auch jetzt wieder die Hochschulwahl an, die per Online-System stattfindet. Ein paar Tage vor dem Wahltermin bekommt jeder eine Email mit Zugangslink und Zugangsdaten und kann dann vom 4.-7. Juni ganz entspannt vom Handy oder von Zuhause wählen.

    Aber wen oder was überhaupt?
    Es werden die Gremien der Studierendenvertretung gewählt. Also welche Studis dich im Senat, Studentischen Konvent und den Fakultätsräten vertreten. Was das alles genau ist, kannst du hier nachlesen oder ein Augen auf unsere Instagram Accounts halten.

    on behalf of the Center for Gender and Diversity, I would like to invite you to a workshop on "How to write a winning Exposé for a PhD".

    This workshop is aimed at masterstudents who are thinking about doing a doctorate and would like to learn what to consider when writing an exposé.

    The workshop will take place online and in English on 24.05.24 from 17.00 - 20.00.

    Contents of the workshop are:
    -The exposé as the basis for the dissertation
    - Scope of the exposé
    - Tips for writing the exposé
    - Structure and outline of an exposé
