STACK-Network
STACK-Network: We share the common goal of (1) informing each other about national and international activities and news on the topic of digital exercises based on STACK as Open Educational Resources and to know the state of the art in related areas such as linking with dynamic geometry (JSXGraph), learning analytics, adaptive task control, multidimensional feedback, etc. and (2) to exchange STACK tasks of WiMINT subjects with each other and with external partners and to ensure quality assurance and documentation of the tasks in order to (3) continuously expand our teaching-related network for the exchange of information and exercises and to open it for teachers of a broad range of subjects.

Projects
STACK network for the dissemination of digital tasks in business and STEM teaching
Funded by: Foundation Innovation in Higher Education Teaching (Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre)
Duration: 2023 – 2026
Building on the existing STACK Net, the project aims to contribute to (1) better networking the German STACK community through a coordination and QM office, so that (2) there is a continuous flow of information about (inter)national activities, which will be realised through (3) the first German STACK newsletter and a homepage, which also (4) forms a contact point for interested parties for the introduction of STACK at their own university, the procurement of STACK tasks for their own teaching, the exchange between STACK users of all subjects and (5) includes a QM documentation of existing tasks.
STACK and GeoGebra - Interactive teaching and digital tasks with visualisation
Funded by: Ministry of Culture and Science NRW (DigiFellowship).
Applicant: FH Bielefeld
Duration: 2022 – 2025
In the project, digital tasks with mathematic reference are created with the help of the plug-in "STACK", which have a focus on visualisation. This promotes the students' understanding and advances digitalisation.
IdeaL - Innovation Network for Digital Adaptive Teaching
Funded by: Foundation Innovation in Higher Education Teaching (Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre)
Partners: Academy for Teacher Training and Personnel Management (kademie für Lehrerfortbildung und Personalführung), Dillingen; BayZiel Didaktikzentrum: Transfer to the university landscape; Institute for Learning Innovation, FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg: STACK in ILIAS; Prof. Dr. Karin Landenfeld, HAW Hamburg: STACK-based testing in STEM subjects; Joubel AS, Norway (H5P developer): Design of interactive learning environments; School of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh: STACK-based online courses, OER.
Duration: 2021 - 2024
In the project, flexible (self-)learning modules for adaptive digital teaching based on STACK will be developed and implemented for mathematics courses in the introductory phase of studies. Special emphasis is placed on adaptive task control, gamification and visualisation (dynamic geometry based on JSXGraph) as well as a complex feedback concept. With a holistic view of teaching and learning, the project addresses current challenges at German universities such as the increasing heterogeneity of students and the high dropout rate in engineering.
Interactive Digital Assessment in Mathematics (IDIAM)
Funded by: ERASMUS+ (KA226)
Partners: NTNU Norway, Ruhr-University Bochum , University of Bayreuth, FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg, University of Edinburgh
Duration: 2021 – 2023
The project aims to develop a) digital tools for assessing competences in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), in particular mathematical sciences and b) digital tasks in several specific mathematical subjects at the partner institutions. FAU is responsible for the development of tasks for multidimensional analysis based on visualisation using JSXGraph with the connection to STACK.
STACK times three - Digital exercises for mechanics I + conversion trainer for physical units + analysis trainer for combinations of basic geometric bodies.
Founded by: Internal teaching support of the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences
Partners: Institute of Natural Sciences, Institute of Civil Engineering, Department III (E-Learning)
Duration: 2019 – 2020
The project pursues the following goals: (1) Students are to be offered a time- and location-independent opportunity to train the conversion of physical units as often as they wish. (2) To provide teachers with the opportunity to check their students' conversion of physical units through e-assessments. (3) Teachers of advanced modules should be able to ask students to repeat the units on their own if they recognise weaknesses in the calculation of units. (4) The concept of digital exercises should be transferred from engineering mathematics to mechanics in a way that is recognisable to students and thus contribute to a methodological alignment of the two lectures; within this framework, students should in particular be given the opportunity to practise mechanics exercises as often as they like, independent of time and place, which is currently being finalised for engineering mathematics by the Smart Training II project. (5) The handling of basic geometric bodies should be able to be practised as often as desired and the necessary (software) technical requirements (interlinking of STACK and GeoGebra) should be investigated at the HRW.
Community Working Group "STACK Tasks”
Funded by: BMBF and HFD
Partners: Prof. Dr. paed. Mike Altieri (Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden), Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Jörg Horst (Fachhochschule Bielefeld), Dr. rer. nat. Michael Kallweit (Ruhr Universität Bochum), Dr. habil. Malte Persike (RWTH Aachen), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Karin Landenfeld (HAW Hamburg)
Duration: 2019 – 2020
The aim of the Community Working Group is the development, implementation and research of multi-step digital STACK tasks with adaptive task control in mathematics and natural sciences/engineering.
Introduction to Engineering Mathematics
Funded by: vhb
Partners: University of Würzburg, Aalto University Helsinki, FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg
Duration: 2016 – 2017
A compact online course on engineering mathematics was developed, covering essential and elementary concepts from linear algebra and analysis. The STACK-based exercise units are a central component of the course. The chapter on integration was developed under the leadership of FAU.
